Herby Hexagon!

This week the children have been doing some planting in our new lovely 'Hexagon Herb Planter' (kindly donated by Freya Roberts' parents/ grandparents).

We looked at lots of different herbs and learnt their names. We enjoyed feeling them and smelling them!

Willow class' favourite was the Mint!

Have a look at our Herby Hexagon at the top of the new footpath on the field!

Many Thanks to Freya Roberts' family!

Broken Camera!

Sorry for the lack of posts - our camera had to be replaced, but we're up and running again now with a sparkly new one!  :-)

A Monet Morning!

As part of our study on plants this term we have looked at some 'Garden' pictures by Claude Monet.
Our favorite was 'Poppy Fields'.

We noticed that Monet 'dabs' with is paint brush instead of doing long brush strokes and this makes the picture look textured.

We had a go at painting 'Monet style'!

We did a fantastic job!

Willow Class Gardeners!

Our theme is plants and growing this half term and we are very busy this week learning how to be fantastic gardeners!

Our story this week is Jaspers Beanstalk - We realised that Jasper was not patient enough to be a good gardener! The story did make us laugh though - watch it by clicking the link below!

For Wellie Wednesday we started planting some plants along the new path - to make a sensory garden!
Mr Smith dug the holes and we all helped put the plant's roots gently into the soil with some fresh compost and cover the roots back over.
We made sure the plants would get sunlight and we gave them some water!
We planted some Pussy Willow which felt lovely and soft and some sweet peas and lavender which will smell beautiful when it grows!
We cant wait to see how the plants will look as they grow bigger!
