Willow Class Gardeners!

Our theme is plants and growing this half term and we are very busy this week learning how to be fantastic gardeners!

Our story this week is Jaspers Beanstalk - We realised that Jasper was not patient enough to be a good gardener! The story did make us laugh though - watch it by clicking the link below!

For Wellie Wednesday we started planting some plants along the new path - to make a sensory garden!
Mr Smith dug the holes and we all helped put the plant's roots gently into the soil with some fresh compost and cover the roots back over.
We made sure the plants would get sunlight and we gave them some water!
We planted some Pussy Willow which felt lovely and soft and some sweet peas and lavender which will smell beautiful when it grows!
We cant wait to see how the plants will look as they grow bigger!

Welcome Back Willow Class!

Well done Willow - you have all come back to school with such enthusiasm, full of stories of your Easter holidays :-)
This is the Summer Term and the first part is all about Plants and Gardens and our School grounds. We have lots of exciting things planned like making a Bean Diary for our own bean plant, planting a sensory garden along the new path and a 'herb' garden.
The second half is all about 'journeys', we'll be looking at different countries alongside celebrating the World cup football. We hope to end the term with a trip to Cosford!

This term we have a new competition! We would like to see all the children reading books wherever they go! We are going to host an 'Extreme reader' competition for the entire school. We would like you to send photos in of your child reading a book in a 'different' place - obviously a 'SAFE' place. These photos will be displayed in the school library and at the end of term Mr Morris will judge the best ones in each stage and they will win a book of their choice.

(There are some Extreme reader photos to give you an idea on our book blog - click the link on the top left of the page)

You can e-mail me the photos on - equinn@greenfieldsapps.co.uk
I look forward to seeing the crazy places that you find to read in!

Easter was Eggsiting!

We were all very busy preparing for Easter in the last week of term.

We read the Easter story and talked about what Easter means. We thought about what is beautiful in our world and we went on a visit to Church to talk about our ideas.

We had an Easter egg hunt on the field during Wellie Wednesday!

We made some lovely rabbit Easter cards and Easter nest cakes.

Following our work on Holi we made different coloured jellies for the Spring party that we planned in March!

The party was great fun - everyone enjoyed the jellies and then we played different party games that had been planned by the children in the class!

Wow Willow You had a busy last week of term!

We hope you all had a lovely Easter Holiday!

Spring Art!

Today we had great fun making a Spring weather song and putting musical instruments to make the sounds of the different types of weather.

By Phoebe

After our Spring music we made some 'Spring Garden' pictures with some chalks on dark sugar paper.

By Georgia
We looked at some spring flowers like - daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, daisies and gerberas we talked sbout the shape of them and how to create the effects with the chalks.

Miss Quinn was so pleased with the final posters - they would be lovely works of art hanging in frames on the wall!
