Today we had a go at 'Observational drawing'.
We learnt that when we do an observational drawing we have to look very carefully at all of the objects details and size and draw what we can see.
Because it's almost Spring we thought we could draw some beautiful Spring Flowers.
We drew some tulips and then carefully painted them with water colours.
What do you think?

Look at our Fabulous Arks!!!
With all the rain we had before half term we decided to build some 'junk arks'!
We came up with some brilliant ideas!
Our arks had soft beds, steering wheels, animal food holders,
safety rafts, zip wires and many other unique features.
You could try and make your own junk ark at home!

All Aboard!
We have loved learning about the story of Noahs Ark this week - and we are glad to see that the weather has co-operated and produced the perfect rainy climate for the story!
You can listen and watch the story at home by clicking below!

We had great fun in PE after listening to the story!
We all went into the hall and had to get our rafts (With all the bean bag animals on) as well as 12/13 children from one side of the hall to the other.
We had to make sure that nobody stepped in the sea (touched the floor).
We had to work together as a team, which meant talking to each other and looking and listening to our friends.
We are glad to say both rafts made it across with no casualties!!!

We are going to carry on our topic of 'Noah' next week. We will all be writing a postcard on Monday to let you at home know what we are up to on our Ark!
If you have any postcards at home it would be great if they can come in to school so we can see what kind of things are written on a post card!

Happy Chinese New Year!
To celebrate Chinese New year, which is tomorrow, we have been learning all about the celebration!
Today we had a visit from 'Grace Tong' who told us all about the special festival. We learnt about the Chinese dragon and learnt how to do a 'dragon dance'.
We tried on some traditional Chinese costumes and looked at some special objects like bamboo paper and lanterns that had come from China.

We watched Grace do a beautiful chinese fan dance.
At the end of our session we learnt some Kung Fu! We were very good at remembering all 10 moves in the sequence.
When we got back to the classroom we tasted some different Chinese foods.

Lots of the children in Willow class tried all the foods - some of which they had ever had before!
We had; - egg rice, egg noodles, prawn crackers, spring rolls, curry sauce and sweet and sour sauce.
The most popular food in our class was the 'Prawn Crackers', followed by the 'egg noodles'. The least popular was the 'sweet and sour sauce'
Tomorrow we are going to go on a Chinese Parade around the school.
We have learnt a Chinese song to sing!
We have been busy making a lucky dragon for the parade!

We learnt that Grandparents give children red envelopes with coins in for a present at New Years.
We played a brilliant game where we all had a lucky red envelopes and we had to go and hunt for lucky gold coins! We found loads!
Some of the coins had numbers on them - we put the numbers in order from 0 - 20!
