Happy Wesak!

This week throughout the entire school our focus is 'Art'.
We have decided to revolve our art around the festival of Wesak, which is taking place this week. Wesak is a buddhist festival and it celebrates enlightenment and friendship.  Look at this famous story about Wesak -

Buddhists believe the symbol of an elphant resembles strength and friendship.

We have used paints, chalks, collaging and printing to make some different styles of elephants.

We're Potty about Planting!

This term our theme is all about 'Living things' and we are starting off by looking at 'Plants'.
We have looked at some great stories with plants or gardening for the theme eg. Eddies Garden, Jaspers Beanstalk , A Tiny Seed and Jack and the Beanstalk.
These stories inspired us to attempt some planting of our own, so we have all planted a sunflower seed.

 Eddies garden book told us that the seed needs soil, sunshine and water.

 We have all been thinking of a good place to put our seedling where it will grow big and strong.

Eggselent Easter Fun!!!!

We have been learning all about Easter this week. We know its a celebration that takes place in the Spring.
We have read the Easter story all about how Jesus died and rose again on Easter Sunday.
We went to church and sang an easter song.
Today we finished making our clay Easter eggs! We had to print patterns on them and paint them carefully!
We think they look beautiful.

We have also been busy making Easter Nest cakes - we cant wait to gobble them up!

Spring is coming!

Today we looked at the seasons and talked about the new season that we are going into this week - Spring!
We looked at a video and pictures to show us what is going to happen in Spring. We talked about how Spring is different from Autumn and Winter.

We all made a 'Signs of Spring' poster and a Spring poem - Mrs Quinn-Lock was very proud with how are segmenting and spelling skills had improved!

A Cool Comic relief!

Super hero den building.

We've had great fun out on the field this week building secret hideout dens for Super Hero's to live in!

We were very good at working together to get materials like sticks, pegs, string and tarpaulin and working out ways to make a good 'Hideout'!

Does anyone fancy moving in?
