Puppet Show!

As part of our topic on toys we have been looking at Puppets.
We have seen puppets from around the world - finger, glove, string, rod and even full body puppets.
We have looked at materials and made plans for making our own puppets.

When the Squirrels went out for Wellie Wednesday the Hedgehogs started to construct the puppets - they are looking fab!

In literacy we have been practising story telling and making puppet shows of our own. Tomorrow afternoon we are going to have a Puppet show in class - we've made posters to tell people and tickets so we know who is allowed to come and watch!

We love the Snow!!!

Willow Class have really enjoyed playing in the snow over the last few days.

It was great hearing about all your snowy adventures at the weekend - sledging, snowman building, snowball fights and snow angeling!  The children have painted some excellent pictures to show us the fun they have had.

We have also had fun in the snow at school playing in the snow at playtimes. Today Willow class got Mrs Quinn-Lock with lots of snowballs then we started to build an 'igloo'.  We thought of lots of lovely words to describe the snow which we are going to put in a snow poem of our own.

Happy New Year!

Hello and Happy New Year everyone! We hope you all had a good christmas - despite all of the illness there seems to have been about the festive period!

We are excited to be back and staring our new theme on 'Toys'!

This week we have talked and written about our christmas news and looked at what the season of 'Winter' is and what this means is happening outside in our own environment.

We had a very 'Wintery' Wellie Wednesday where we looked around us at the
trees and the plants and thought about the wildlife and what they were doing. We learnt about 'birds' and discussed how they struggle to find food in the winter.

We're happy to Say Greenfields birds now have very full tummies as we all worked hard at making a 'Tweet Treat' for them with; a fir cone, lard and seeds.

Mrs Quinn-Lock was amazed by our wonderful writing for our letter to Santa Clause!

Damien's really worked hard on his 'sounding out'!

Alex has put a lot of effort into
his 'letter formation'!

Well done Willow you are becoming wonderful writers!

We've been 'Jolly Posting'!

We have had an excellent week building our class post office and post box, reading The Jolly Postman, matching letters to the right door numbers on the playground and writing letters to each other!

On Wednesday we went on a walk to post our letters. We were very excited when the postman strolled across the playground to deliver them to us today!

We're shaping up our 3D shape knowledge in Willow!

This week in Willow we have been learning about the names of 3D shapes and describing them using some good Maths language. Today we used the Polydroid to make a cuboid 'Post box' for our Post office. We are going to cover it with red paper ready to put any christmas cards in that the children may write.

We also tried to mould some 3D shapes with the playdough and build them from the clixi and polydron.

This week we are going to look out for 3D shapes that we see around us, we've already spotted that the cupboard is a cuboid shape, a toilet roll is like a cylinder and a ball is a sphere. Post a comment on here if you notice any other objects that are like the 3D shapes we have learnt.
