Morse has been so busy!

We have named our bird Morse as he is very noisy with his tapping which sounds like 'Morse Code'!
He has been to and fro all day making an amazing nest! We think you are doing very well Morse! It must be tricky building a nest especially with no hands!

Look at our Eggcellent Easter nest cakes mmm!

Today we looked at the easter story and retold it to our friends.

We also had great fun reading a recipe and following instructions to make some yummy easter nest cakes!

REMEMBER - Sports relief tomorrow!

Remember tomorrow is Sports Relief!

The children can come dressed in their own choice of 'Sporty' clothing!

We will have some different sporting activities for them to take part in.

Please could the children bring in a £1 donation in the morning and
2 x 20ps for a turn on the inflatables and other games.

Shaping up for Spring!

Today we looked at the 2D shapes and worked with a partner to make a Spring picture with them.

We were very good at using some lovely maths language!

We talked about what the shapes were called and counted how many sides and corners they all had.

We all knew these were 2D shapes because they are flat shapes

Bird nests for the Baby birds!

Wellie Wednesday Bird Nests!
As we have been thinking about Spring this week and looking at animals life cycles we decided to make some nests, just like birds do. We looked at a real nest to see what we needed to use to make a nest. We gathered old grass, sticks, feathers and soft leaves to build our own nests, ready for a little bird to lay their eggs in!

If you click on the link you can see a little bird nesting in Spring!        Video of bird nesting!

Spring Walk

Today Willow class went on their Spring walk!
We looked for signs of spring like the flowers opening, buds growing, the sun shining and more animals and insects scurrying around!

We made information pages about Spring on the laptops to show other children in the class what our group had seen!

Which material can we use to stop Freddy Teddy getting wet in the rain?

Today we looked at some different materials and thought about which ones would be good to make a raincoat for Freddy Teddy!

We felt the materials and chose ones that we thought would be waterproof.  We used a watering can to pour water like rain onto the materials and we looked into the pots underneath to see which ones had let water through - these were not waterproof! We found one that did not let any water through, this was waterproof. We were fabulous scientists!!!

Wellie wednesday Dinosaur swamps!

We had so much fun out on the field this afternoon making a big oozy squelchy dinosaur swamp! We've been thinking about dinosaurs after Ian Whybrows visit, we enjoyed moving and hiding like them outside today! We used our wellies to stamp and churn the mud and mixed it with water to make a swamp! Then we made a dinosaur track to follow on some wallpaper! After this some of us worked hard digging up soil to look for special rocks and fossils!

We loved reading - The Sun and The wind!

Today we read the story of 'The Sun and The Wind'. We talked about the story language and broke the story up into beginning middle and end. We all had fun making our own story book of The Sun and The Wind! If you want to look at the story at home here's a link to the version we read and listened to...
