A big well done to all of the children in Willow Class last week for putting on a brilliant performance of 'Happy Birthday Jesus'.
The children worked very hard on the songs, words and dances. We were very proud of them!

Listen to our Leafy poems!
After our Autumn walk we have been thinking of some good ways to describe what Autumn looks like.
We read some Autumn poems that described Autumn in lots of different ways.
We decided to make some Autumn poems of our own by changing a poem called 'Leaves Don't Just Fall...'
We thought of lots of things that leaves do and made some great new poems.

Red Group -
Leaves don't just fall,
they blow in the air.
Leaves don't just fall,
they dance like a butterfly.
Leaves don't just fall,
they flutter around.
Leaves don't just fall,
they're like a carpet on the ground.
Yellow Group -
Leaves don't just fall,
they are soft blankets for animals.
Leaves don't just fall,
a gust of wind caries them to the ground.
Leaves don't just fall,
they twirl slowly like a princess.
Leaves don't just fall,
they change colour red, yellow, pink, brown.
Leaves don't just fall,
they turn trees into colouful rainbows
and when they fall
they make scrunchy jumpy pillows!
Blue Group -
Leaves don't just fall,
they spin in the sky.
Leaves don't just fall,
they turn like ballerinas.
Leaves don't just fall,
they are red, yellow and brown.
Leaves don't just fall,
bugs hide so they cant be found.
Leaves don't just fall,
They float to the ground.
Green Group
Leaves don't just fall,
they dance like ballerinas.
Leaves don't just fall,
they crunch under your feet.
Leaves don't just fall,
they float like little boats.
Leaves don't just fall,
they help minibeasts to hide from the cold.
Leaves don't just fall, they are a crispy path for me to run!
Autumn leaves are lots of fun!
Shhhhhh! Our Hedgehogs are hibernating!
This week we have been looking very carefully around our school, we have noticed that many of the trees are bare and the ground is covered in beautiful Autumn leaves. We have talked about how the weather is becoming colder and the days are shorter.
We've been thinking about the animals that live in the Forest School area. We watched a video that showed us that a Hedgehog hibernates when the weather gets cold. This means they make a warm cosy leaf nest in the bottom of the hedgerows and they sleep through the Winter.
When we went out for Wellie Wednesday this week we made some hedgehogs of our own from mud, leaves and sticks.
What do you think?
We all found lovely hiding places to put our hedgehogs in so they could hibernate. Then we searched the forest school area to make sure there was enough food for the hedgehogs.
We searched for worms, slugs and insects - all of the foods which hedgehogs love!
We found lots!
Maybe you could make some muddy hedgehogs in your garden!

Diwalli Celebrations!
Last week in school we learnt all about the celebration of Diwalli!
The children were great in comparing Diwali and Christmas.
We watched Jessica enjoy Diwalli! Click on the link below to see what happens.

Brilliant Bonfire Celebrations!
Well done Willow Class - You all returned to school this week with big smiley faces and lots of news about your week off! :-)
Lots of you told us about the Bonfire celebrations that you had been to.
We made some fantastic bonfire safety posters on Monday.

We made some fantastic bonfire safety posters on Monday.
This is Edwin's!
We also did some blow paintings that looked like all of the colours of fireworks exploding in the sky!
This is Katie's
We all really enjoyed learning about Guy Fawkes and we had a good discussion on what he tried to do to the houses of parliament and why he did it. Have a look at this video -
We had some great fun building our own bonfires for Wellie Wednesday.
In maths we made our firework pictures take off! All the fireworks had to have 5 sparks to go. We counted and worked out how many sparks to add on to make 5!
What a fun week!
Next week the celebrations continue as we take a look at Diwalli.

A Very Wet Wonderland!
Well done Willow class for your fantastic behaviour on our trip to Wonderland.
Unfortunately the rain was relentless and we were all very soggy! We managed to race around and see most of the houses though.
We loved seeing 'The Three Little Pigs Houses they were just like they looked like in the book we read.
Thank you so much to Mummies who came along to help and got very very wet - without your help trips wouldn't be able to take place.

We were a little worried that the dinosaurs looked hungry when we walked past them on the way to have lunch - so we sneaked past very quickly!
It was such a shame that the heavy rain cut our trip short, we hope the children remember some of the nice things they saw and not just remember being soaked!Thank you so much to Mummies who came along to help and got very very wet - without your help trips wouldn't be able to take place.

Mr Wolf came to visit!
Yes you heard right!!!
Mr Big Bad Wolf came to visit us at Greenfields!
We were a bit worried at first...we thought he might eat us!
But when we got talking to him we realised he isn't really a big bad wolf. He had been suffering from a bad back and had lost his wallet so he had no money to buy food. Mr wolf was very sorry to the pigs. We helped him to apologise by writing some 'sorry cards' for him to give the pigs.
Come and see us soon Mr Wolf!

A Wonderful Wolfie Wellie Wednesday!
We had so much fun outside this week in Wellie Wednesday!
We decided we could build better houses then those little pigs so we worked together in teams to build much stronger houses.
We built a straw one,
A stick one
and a brick one!
We all pretended to be wolves and tried to blow the houses down but the houses were far too strong!
We talked about the materials and what they were like and the different sizes of the materials and houses all whilst we were busy playing!!!
Lots of good House builders in the making in Willow and Nursery class :-)

Story Makers!
Today we read a story called 'The Three Horrid Pigs'. In this story the pigs were nasty and the Wolf was friendly and helpful. We decided to make some new stories of our own. Miss Quinn's group came up with 'The Three Silly Pigs' They went to school and were always silly until one day their teacher (Mr Wolf) and friends needed them to save the day! Mr Smith's team came up with 'The Three nasty pigs and the Nastier Wolf'. The characters in the story found themselves very lonely so they ended up reformed characters and good friends. Mrs Barnards story was the 'Three Lazy Pigs'. The pigs were so messy and lazy that Mummy pig told them to go. They tried to build houses - but not properly because they were lazy. The houses fell down and injured them so Mr Wolf and the Wolf children took the pigs to Daddy Pig the local doctor.
Let us know if you have any ideas for a new 'Three Pigs' story.

Little Pig, Little Pig, Let me come in!!!
This week we have been looking at the story of 'The Three Little Pigs'.
We've had lots of fun retelling it with our character masks in the forest school area. We made our own books of the story in Literacy, ordered blown over numbered houses in maths and created some fabulous collage houses in our Art session. What do you think?
We also had a go at sketching our own houses - we have some fabulous artists in our class. Ellie May's Picture was so good we decided to put it in the class frame outside our room.
You can tell the story to your friends and family at home - try this!

Autumn Treasure Hunting!!!
This week in Wellie Wednesday we had a treasure hunt!
We had a big list of objects to find and we hunted high and low to gather all the objects together.
Look at what we found:-
Maybe you could use our list and have a treasure hunt in your garden?

We're shaping up very well!
We have been working hard this week learning all about 2D shapes.
Today we made some excellent repeating pattern shape 'chef' hats that we can wear when we're working in the Little Red Hen Cafe.

Little Red Hen.
This week, as it is almost Harvest time, we have been looking at the story of the Little Red Hen.
During Literacy time we looked at the story setting and the characters. We had a go at retelling the story with pictures and puppets. We had great fun watching the shows our friends did.

Welcome Willow Class 2013-14
Welcome to all of the new children who completed their first day at 'Big School' today!
You were fantastic at listening and following instructions. We had to give soooooo many 'Dojo points' out.
Who do you think will have the most points and be our 'Star of the Week' on Friday???
Today you should have received a letter about WellieWedneday and your childs own Homework pack, which also has a letter inside regards what all the items are in the bag.
We have a trial Wellie Wednesday session as a whole class tomorrow.
Looking forward to another fun packed day with you Willow class :-)
