We're Green fingered at Greenfields!

The Garden is our topic this term and at the moment we're looking at all of the different plants we can see and learning about how they grow.
We read Eddie's garden and decided to make our own 'Bean Den' just like Eddies! We made a list of the things we would need and got to work on it! We can't wait for the beans to start growing!

We've also been to the school vegetable patches and planted some different vegetable seeds.
Everyone planted a sunflower seed last week and we're having a compettion to see whose grows the tallest!

Amazing Mr and Mrs Morse!

This morning there were two Blue Tits chattering away in our nest box and when they both left we counted at least 12 eggs!

.
Mrs Morse has been sitting on them most of the day, occasionally moving to gently turn them all over with her tiny beak.

We have loved watching her nesting and we're all very excited that we may soon have some chicks!!!

Eggsciting news for Morse!!!

We are pleased to announce that our little Blue Tit Morse has laid several eggs!!!
Every day we look to check but they're difficult to spot under all the feathers that Morse has piled on top to try and keep them warm. Fingers crossed in a couple of weeks we may have some little chicks!

Wiggly Worm Hunt!

What a wet Wellie Wednesday it was this week but it didn't dampen our spirits! We still managed to have lots of fun in the rain!
This week we were thinking about how all the birds are getting on with their nest building and talking about how the adult birds have to feed the chicks lots of minibeasts to keep them healthy. We talked about how birds like worms and that little chicks need to eat 1/3 of their own weight a day of them!

The teachers hid lots of pipe cleaner worms around our Forest School area and the children pretended to be adult birds and search for them! It was easy to spot the red and purple worms but difficult to find the brown and green ones. We talked about how lots of minibeasts are camouflaged and difficult to spot so animals don't eat them.
